#FitTipFriday – Staying Fit at 50

Are you about to approach the golden years? I hear from a lot of people “I’m too old to get in shape…” NOT! You are never to old to start. I started my fitness journey in my mid-40’s, and now I’m about to hit the big 50 in December, and I’m in the best shape of my life. The biggest part of staying fit is mental; the mindset is a powerful thing. Of course, eating healthy and daily exercise are equally important aspects. “Everything in moderation” is one of my favorite sayings. I always try to keep a positive mental attitude, even when I have bad day. I try not to act my age, because then I will feel old…. It’s how you feel on the inside that keeps you feeling younger. If you have health issues to overcome like I did, it is even more important to maintain a positive mindset and not let any of them slow you down. However, if your body says rest, then listen to it, take a few days off, but make sure not to lose your drive. Stay active, but make sure to participate in lower-impact exercise, like going for a walk. Most importantly, keep your chin up and believe in yourself!!!!!

Here are five tips to staying fit at 50:
1. Working out three days a week to start. Stay focused!
2. Drink water, water, and more water!
3. Try to choose healthier snacks and cut your portions down …every little bit helps.
4. Set realistic goals for yourself .
5- Don’t. Give. Up.
